Daily Fantasy Football - NFL Late Games Podcast and Picks -11-10-13

Daily Fantasy Football - NFL Late Games Podcast

Late Games

Panthers vs. 49ers
This is a daily fantasy football disaster. I am staying away. Two solid defenses should scare most players away. The only guy that I would consider for a daily fantasy football GPP is Mike Tolbert. He gets TDs. He catches passes. He's cheap.

Texans vs. Cardinals
Another Daily fantasy football dud. There are only 5 games to pick from and this one doesn't scream points. Case Keenum is a risky GPP pick, but his daily fantasy football salary is as low as it gets for a QB. He's look good in two match-ups against solid defenses (KC, IND). Andre Johnson has a relatively low price tag. He will see plenty of targets and could have a big game against Patrick Peterson (Harry Douglas torched Peterson a week ago).

Broncos vs. Chargers
Pick your favorite Bronco. Flip a coin, use a Ouija board, or whatever you need to use to pick the Bronco that will have the best day. If you can afford Peyton Manning, then take the old man following a bye week.

I love the Bolts in a shootout/catch-up game. Phillip Rivers, Danny Woodhead, and Keenan Allen look good today. Eddie Royal and Vincent Brown are cheap WR with high upsides.

Cowboys vs. Saints
This will be a big daily fantasy football day for Jimmy Graham. Oh wait, every game is a big daily fantasy football day for Jimmy Graham. With only five games to pick from, it's hard to imagine not picking the big guy. You can pencil in Brees for 300 plus yards and mulitple TDs.

The only Cowboy I like is Witten. I am not sure about Dez Bryant's health or Demarco Murray.

Buccaneers vs. Dolphins
With only a few games to pick from, Brian Hartline creeps back onto the daily fantasy football radar. Wallace will be tied down by Revis, so look for hartiline toget plenty of targets. Lamar Miller is coming around, but there are questions with that offensive line.

Vincent Jackson is the king of targets in the NFL. At his mid price, with only a few games to choose from it's hard to look away. Mike James is a cheap RB that will help you roster a stud QB. If you go away from Jimmy Graham, then Tim Wright is a cheap TE that could score around 15 points this week in daily fantasy football.

Fantasy NASCAR Podcast - Phoenix Race - 11-10-13

The NASCAR season is almost over. There are only two races left. It is nearly time to lock the doors on the Fantasy NASCAR season. It has been a pleasure doing this podcast for FantasySportsDojo.com for the 2013 season. I look forward to continuing to rant about Fatnasy NASCAR, conspiracies, and Danica in Bikinis.

If you listened to the podcast and were wondering about the lady that dressed up like Danica for Halloween, IT'S GONE! Well, not technically. @D4ster3 changed their profile to private, so you have to be approved to follow. It makes sense. One can only imagine what the NASCAR community did with that photo. I am sure @D4ster3 deleted the photo, but it's the internet; Some nut job has that pic downloaded. It will be back.

Here is the tweet that started it all:

Fantasy NASCAR Podcast and Picks - Texas Race - 11-3-13

This Daily Fantasy NASCAR Draft Kit is your cheat sheet to winning the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. This week's top Fantasy NASCAR pick is Greg Biffle.

Fantasy NASCAR Podcast - Texas 11-3-13

Last week, fantasy NASCAR and the Chase were lifted off life support. After weeks of boring 1.5 mile tracks and a dud at Talladega, Martinsville revitalized the season. Short tracks provide the necessary blend of crashes and quality driving to satisfy most race fans.

This week fantasy NASCAR returns to a cookie cutter track. Texas Motor Speedway is a fast 1.5 mile track. Earlier this season, the Gen-6 car set track records in qualifying. NASCAR drivers will be hitting speeds of 210 mph on back straight stretch. Speed is the only thing that will save this week’s fantasy NASCAR race. The late summer intermediate track races have been dull. Their early position in the Chase has more than likely been the cause of tepid driving. The hope is that drivers will cut loose this week. Most drivers are out of the Chase and are in “go big or go bust” mode. The drivers still alive must go all in.

Greg Biffle is the top Fantasy NASCAR pick because of his price and consistency at Texas. In The Bif’s last 10 races at Texas, he has 10 top tens. Seven of those races were top fives. His average finish of 5.5 over the last 10 is one of best for any driver at any track.

Daily Fantasy Football Past, Present, Preview Podcast

Past - Daily Fantasy Football Week 8

If you did not pick Calvin Johnson last week, you lost. There is absolutely no way you won a GPP without him. Your team may have been garbage last week; but if you picked Calvin Johnson and his 300 yards receiving, you won your daily fantasy football contest. I know it’s not gambling, but sometimes I question whether daily fantasy football is a game of skill.

I am sure that I am not winning new friends here, but hear me out. If you skillfully picked a well thought out team, but left out Megatron; you lost. On the other hand, a junk team with Calvin Johnson was a winner. Old ladies at gas stations playing scratch offs employ more skill.

I am not a sore sport. I am not trying to ruin your fabulous daily fantasy sports industry. Maybe you did your homework and Calvin Johnson looked to be a great play. In week 7 against the Bengals, Johnson demonstrated what he was capable of doing when healthy. The problem with that argument is that no one expected 300 yards from Megatron. That is luck.

Players blow up and sometimes the right lotto balls roll out of the machine.

Preview - Daily Fantasy Football Week 9

Vikings vs. Cowboys Aaron Rodgers completed 24 of 29 vs. the Vikings. Romo, Dez, and Terrance Williams are great plays.

Chargers v. Redskins Philip Rivers (coming off a bye week) will carve up the poor Redskins D (no pun intended). Jordan Reed is the only Redskin you can trust (once again, no pun intended).

Eagles v. Raiders Chip Kelly’s offense just isn’t what it was. Terrelle Pryor, DMC, and Denarius Moore are cheap GPP plays against a bad Philly defense.

Falcons v. Panthers Harry Douglass is not an elite WR, but he’s pretty good right now. Matt Ryan will be forced to throw all day against Carolina. It looks like a good match-up on paper for Cam and DeAngelo Williams.

Saints vs. Jets Drew Brees looks in sync, but he splits up the passes too much to pick a Saints WR. Jimmy Graham, on the other hand, is a different story. He is daily fantasy football gold.

Daily Fantasy Football Top Picks

  • Play anyone from Denver and feel fine about it. RGIII and Jordan Reed are great options on the other side of the ball. They are much more daily fantasy football cost friendly.
  • Le'Veon Bell is set for another solid week of carrying the load for the Steelers.
  • Eddie Lacy is under priced and is a key component of the Green Bay offense with all of the injuries. He'll be around 100 yards for the 4th week in a row.
  • Jarrett Boykin, Michael Floyd, and Emmanuel Sanders are good cheap WR3 options.
  • Larry Fitzgerald is under priced. The Cards have to throw because they're rush attack is inept. The Falcons defense is not very strong.
  • GPP Daily Fantasy Football QB - Dalton or Palmer.
  • Head-to-Head or 50/50 - Manning or Rodgers.

Fantasy NASCAR Podcast and Picks - Martinsville Race - 10-27-13

This Daily Fantasy NASCAR Draft Kit is your cheat sheet to winning the Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500 Powered by Kroger at Martinsville Speedway. This week's top Fantasy NASCAR pick is Jimmie Johnson.

Fantasy NASCAR Podcast - Martinsville Race

In the south side of Virginia rests an old, weathered track. It’s simple, small, and southern. It represents a forlorn period of NASCAR and Virginia’s heritage. As the NASCAR landscape has seen a proliferation of intermediate cookie cutter tracks, Martinsville has become a Mecca of sorts. To NASCAR blue bloods, this is Fenway or Wrigley. This is what racing should be.

Martinsville Speedway is short, flat, and a track for experts. Last week at Talladega, every driver pick in Fantasy NASCAR had a chance. The cars had identical setups and the high banking allowed for three and sometimes four lines in the turns. At The Paperclip, there is only one line. If a driver misses it, they hit the wall or desperately fight to get back into the convoy. This is no place for the weary kind.

Most will attest that the Chase has been a snooze. The intermediate tracks have delivered the unwatchable racing that everyone expects with the Gen-6. No one should have been surprised when Talladega also turned out to be 3 hours of lap turning and cautious driving. Not even fantasy NASCAR could spice this up.

The excitement returns this week, Martinsville is a trough track. It rewards good drivers and good fantasy NASCAR picks. The cars do not travel at 200 mph, but what good is speed without contact? Martinsville is analogous to going Christmas shopping at Walmart days before Christmas. Just as shopping carts jostle for position and cling and clang against each other in the small aisles of the toy department, 43 two ton steel boxes bang around a narrow half-mile oval. It’s a miracle that 43 cars can even fit on the track.

Daily Fantasy Football Past (week 7)

SD v. Jax - Jags D is awful. Rivers was efficient. Keenan Allen’s targets shrank. Is Matthews ahead of Woodhead? MJD still sucks. Cecil Shorts gets 13 targets. Shorts and Blackmon both nearly had TDs.

Cin v. Det - Welcome to 2013 Andy Dalton and AJ Green. Gio Bernard had receptions, but the TDs went to Eifert and Marvin Jones. Stafford threw the ball 17 more times than Dalton, but finished with less yards. Calvin Johnson is healthy.

Buf v. Mia - Who is the #1 RB in Buffalo and Miami? Hartline and Wallace get the targets, but do little. Brandon Gibson becomes the redzone target with 2 TDs.

TB v. Atl - Who-lio Jones? Matt Ryan doesn’t need star WRs. Harry Douglas stepped up and performed like a #1 WR (he caught all 7 targets for 149 yds and a TD). Jacquizz Rodgers is WR2. Glennon likes Vincent Jackson to the tune of 22 targets! He must have broken up with his former BFF target Tim Wright.

NE v. NYJ - Brady is old. Gronk is not 100%, but he’s a must play. Did Chris Ivory take RB1 from a banged up Bilal Powell? Do you believe in the Jets offense?

Dal v. Phi - These defense were supposed to be bad. Nick Foles laid an egg in your GPP contest. All eagles did for that matter. Romo did not meet expectations. Joseph Randle exceeded his salary. Dezs Bryant was good, but this should have been a big game for him. Terrance Williams is the WR2, and is getting better each week.

Chi v. Was - As expected, both Defenses are weak. Alfred Morris with 95 yards, but all the 3 TDs go to Helu. Matt Forte is as consistent as a machine. Alshon Jeffery shows up. Jordan Reed was good last week, but now he’s a star TE.

San Francisco v. Tennessee
Vernon Davis exploded last week. Everyone loves Graham and Cameron, but Davis is quietly having a good season.

Cleveland v. Green Bay
Chris Ogbonnaya is Weeden’s check down safety net (13 targets last week). The Browns will probably be playing from behind all game. They’re going to air it out to Jordan Cameron and Josh Gordon.

Eddie lacy has been solid since returning from injury. With a beat up receiver corps, Lacy should be the centerpiece of the offense. There are only two elite QBs in the late games, Aaron Rodgers is one.

Fantasy NASCAR Picks and Podcast - Talladega Race - 10-20-13

This Daily Fantasy NASCAR Draft Kit is your cheat sheet to winning the Camping World RV Sales 500 at Talladega Super speedway. This week's top pick is Michael Waltrip.

Fantasy NASCAR Podcast - Talladega 10-20-13

Fantasy NASCAR returns to Talladega Super Speedway. Daily Fantasy Sports it not gambling, but Fantasy NASCAR at a super speedway is pushing it. Predicating restrictor plate races is impossible. Restrictor plate races are crap shoots, but that's why they are so much fun. If you don't win your Fantasy NASCAR league it's okay. These auto races involve too much luck, but that's what makes Dega exciting.

At Talladega, the racing is even. The cars are equal. This means that low price fantasy NASCAR racers have a great shot at winning at super speedways. With the money you save on low price drivers, you can load your fantasy NASCAR team with top tier drivers. The problem is that top tier drivers do not have much of an advantage at Talladega. The cars are even.

Michael Waltrip is a super speedway freak (he's a regular freak, as well, but you have to like the nut from Owensboro, KY). Mikey has 31 top 10 finishes at restrictor plate tracks. Yes, a lot of his success was many years ago, but at his price, you can overlook that fact. He pretty much stinks everywhere else, but at Dega and Daytona, he's fantasy NASCAR gold or at least silver.

Drivers
High-Level
Jimmie Johnson
Matt Kenseth
Mid-Level
Brad Keselowski
Greg Biffle
Low-Level
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Denny Hamlin
Jeff Burton

Sleepers

Talladega is a fantasy NASCAR sleeper wonderland. There are so many low priced fantasy NASCAR options. Talladega is the Declaration of Independence of NASCAR: all drivers are created equal.

Michael Waltrip is cheap and runs well at super speedways. He finished 4th in the spring race.

David Ragan has two career wins at super speedways. He's finished in the top 10 in each of the last 3 Talladega races.

David Gilliland, Sam Hornish Jr., Austin Dillon, and Trevor Bayne are cheap options that you might want to consider as well.

Giants vs. Bears: Giants still suck. Marshall and Martellus Bennett had solid target numbers (11 and 7).

Cincinnati vs. Buffalo: Bengals RB situation is still daily fantasy football poison. AJ Green and Andy Dalton finally had a good game. St. Louis vs. Texans: Zac Stacy with 90 total yards is your new cheap RB and the only Ram worth picking. Houston lost handily but Andre Johnson and Arian Foster still get their points.

Panthers vs. Vikings: Sweet Carolina showed up this week. The Panthers offense is mercurial. Newton put up great numbers. The rest of the offense did well, but the ball was evenly distributed.

Steelers vs. Jets: Jets D played well, but they received nothing from the offense. Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, Heath Miller, and Emmanuel Sanders are affordable options that played well against a good defense.

Daily Fantasy Football Thoughts:

The Manning Stack did not work last week, if you went with Welker and Demaryius Thomas. If you went with the cheaper option, Julius Thomas and Eric Decker, then you probably won. Knowshon Moreno is steadily becoming an important cog in that offense.

This week Denver get Jacksonville. Get ready to see a lot of Manning stacks.

Les Miserables Game of the Week - The Eagles Defense vs. the Buccaneers Offense. Something has got to give! That something should be Doug Martin.

Ealy Week 5 - Daily Fantasy Football Thoughts

  • Keep playing Broncos. In Daily Fantasy Football, if you pick Denver Broncos, it is almost a guarantee 50/50 or Head-to-Head contest win.
  • LeSean McCoy should continue to roll against a bad New York Giants team.
  • On the other side of the ball, David Wilson might finally have the game everyone has been waiting for. He's dirt cheap on most daily fantasy sports sites and he gets to run on the horrible Philadelphia Eagles Defense.
  • Phillip Rivers is still an mid level priced daily fantasy football quarterback. The Raiders do not present a difficult match up.
  • Antonio Gates is not Jimmy Graham, but he's scoring fantasy points and is much cheaper. Danny Woodhead is a cheap option if you're spending heavy on a Denver stack.

New York Jets vs. Tennessee Titans
Bilal Powell is a low price daily fantasy football pick. Powell looked great last week (149 yds rushing). He'll get all of the carries with Chris Ivory out.

Washington Redskins vs. Oakland Raiders
There are a lot of low priced daily fantasy football picks in this game. The Redskins D is awful. Terrelle Pryor could replicate Michael Vick's week one performance. Rod Streater and Denarius Moore are affordable receiver options. Don't forget about Run DMC either.

Pierre Garcon is having a good year and is getting a ton of targets. Win or lose, Garcon will get points.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Denver Broncos
There are a lot of daily fantasy football points on the line in this match up. Every Bronco that can catch a pass is a good play against an Eagles defense that got torched by Phillip Rivers.

Daily Fantasy NASCAR is back for the second week at DraftGods.com. Although I have grown quite fond of NASCAR.com’s fantasy NASCAR league, DraftGods.com offers daily cash prizes. I will still provide insight to the Fantasy NASCAR.com game, but the majority of my focus will be on the DraftGods.com game. The reason is simple: you can win money at DraftGods.com. Not to mention our Fantasy NASCAR picks were 4-0 last week.

For the rest of the 2013 season auto racing season, Draft Gods will feature a Pick ‘Em game. In 2014, this new daily fantasy sports website plans on adding a salary cap version of their fantasy auto racing game. For now, the game is simple. Two drivers are matched up, the driver that scores the most fantasy points is the winner. The point system mirrors that of a NASCAR race. A better finishing position means more points (43 to 1). One bonus point is awarded for leading a lap, and another bonus point is awarded for leading the most laps. Lastly, three bonus points are awarded for winning the race.

Dover is the third in the ten race long NASCAR playoff system. It’s considered an intermediate track, but it’s not the typical cookie cutter. Dover is only one mile long and is not a tri-oval. Due to Dover’s uniqueness, Fantasy NASCAR players should pay more attention to Dover stats and less to 2013 stats.

Fantasy NASCAR Picks

Jimmie Johnson over Carl Edwards - The 48 is a monster at the monster mile. Jimmie’s finish at Dover earlier this summer was not that great; he led a lot of laps, but a restart controversy ruined his day. Jeff

Gordon over Kurt Busch - The Rainbow Warrior received an extra life as the 13th chase driver, and he’s made the most of it. He has finished 6th or better in his last four races. At Dover, Gordon has finished 2nd and 3rd in his last two races.

Brad Keselowski over Kasey Kahne - The Blue Deuce has nothing to lose. Keselowski is at his best when he can drive his car hard into corners and not worry about points. Kahne is floundering in the Chase.

Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets
Stevie Johnson: Mid level daily fantasy football price. He's clicking with new Bills QB E.J. Manuel.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Miami Dolphins
This game will be an air show. The Dolphins can't run and Steven Jackson is injured for the Falcons. Matt Ryan is the expensive daily fantasy football option, and Ryan Tannehill is the cheap GPP special.

Mike Wallace and Hartline are great mid price daily fantasy football picks. The Falcons' pass defense is horrendous. Wallace will cost you more, but has a higher upside. He and Tannehill seem to be on the same page after last week's game against the Colts.

Daily Fantasy Sports 2013

The daily fantasy sports industry is exploding in 2013, and daily fantasy football is the reason. Major daily fantasy sports websites are launching expensive ad campaigns. Last season, FanDuel was the leader among sites advertising. They paid for premium ad space with Google and ran ads on Yahoo! Sports Radio.

This season FanDuel has taken it to another level. They now have TV commercials on ESPN. Sure, so does MyPillow. I'm not saying that a TV ad creates legitimacy of a product because it definitely does not (I am looking at you Sham-Wow). TV ads mean that a business has a large amount of capital, and that is vital to the longevity and success of a business. FanDuel's ads may not legitimize the industry, but it is clear that the daily fantasy sports industry is not going anywhere.

Earlier this week there were rumblings that CBS Sports is inching its way closer to joining the daily fantasy sports industry. Large invest firms are already pouring money into the current sites. Why? A lot of money can be made from daily fantasy football.

Believe it or not, we are still in the early days of the daily fantasy sports industry. The 2013 daily fantasy football season will play a major role in the development of this industry.

Daily Fantasy Football Strategy - NFL Week 2

Early in the season, the NFL favors the pass. Light preseason work affects defenses more than it does offenses. Add to that the fact that modern passing systems are much more complicated than running games (the exception being the zone read rushing attack). Thus, in daily fantasy football for week 2, the points are going to come from quarterbacks and wide receivers.

Although it may be tempting to pick a low priced QB this week, it is probably not the right choice. Saving at QB to spend on RB is not effective right now. Last week only two RBs rushed for over 100 yards, and only two RBs were in the top 20 in daily fantasy football in scoring. I will concede the notion that a cheaper QB will allow a daily fantasy sports player to load up at WR, and may be the recipe to take down a GPP and win a lot of money.

What is College Fantasy Football?

College fantasy football is now a staple on most daily fantasy sports websites. As the daily fantasy sports industry has grown, so has the variety of games offered. The 2012 daily fantasy football season witnessed the emergence of college fantasy football. By all accounts, 2013 will be a big year for college fantasy football. It has the possibility of becoming the #2 daily fantasy sport behind the NFL.college fantasy football

How does college fantasy football work?

College fantasy football is nearly identical to its NFL counterpart. Daily games are available with cash prizes for the winner. The daily fantasy football rules, scoring, and drafting are still the same. The major difference is the obvious one: the college game vs. the pro game.

The differences:

In daily college fantasy football, there are more teams and players to pick from. Unlike the NFL, there is a wide range of college football offenses to consider when picking college football players. Also unlike the NFL, parity is non-existent. Some teams heavily outmatch their opponents. Blowouts are a reality in college fantasy football. Your quarterback can explode or take a seat in the 3rd quarter with his team up 40 points. The best way to describe it is that daily college fantasy football is like a funky version of the NFL.
